MEET THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Larry McKenna started the Mt. Gretna Summer Concerts series in 2017, following 9 years of producing the New Voices Cabaret in Philadelphia at the Society Hill Playhouse, the Philadelphia Boys Choir building, and 118 North in Wayne, PA.  www.newvoicescabaret.com

Larry has also written several shows.  His first production was a comedy entitled THE NEXT REUNION which premiered at the Society Hill Playhouse in Philadelphia, PA for a five-week run. 

He followed up that show with a musical comedy entitled BURT & ME featuring the music of Burt Bacharach & Hal David.  Working with Mr. Bacharach and the estate of Hal David, Larry wrote the book to this delightful production.  It has been performed at Act II Playhouse (PA), Deertrees Theatre (ME), Society Hill Playhouse (PA), Hackmatack Playhouse (ME), Gretna Theatre (PA), Broadway Palm Theatre (FL), Palm Theatre (AZ), Delaware Theatre Company, DE, Florida Studio Theatre (FL), Meadow Brook Theatre (MI), and Ivoryton Playhouse (CT).  Enjoy this promotional video of the show: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWvwG6XuBlU 

His third show was a comedy entitled STRICTLY PLATONIC and premiered at Hedgerow Theatre in Media, PA to rave reviews.  The Philadelphia Inquirer described it as "A delightful evening that's sweet to its center and ultimately worth every bite."   STRICTLY PLATONIC has recently been made into a musical and will premiere at the Tabernacle in Mt. Larry recently oversaw the process of turning the Mt. Gretna Summer Concerts series into a non-profit in time for the 2023 season.

Larry and his wife Kathy have a cottage in Mt. Gretna which they thoroughly enjoy with their four children and nine grandchildren.
